Why Leadership Training Is Mostly Ineffective
Leadership training is mostly ineffective. It gave me language and frameworks. It helped me think more clearly about leadership, but it did not change how I actually showed up when it mattered most. It assumes the problem is a lack of knowledge. In many cases, leaders already understand those things and can teach them. Then pressure shows up, and something else takes over.
A person’s response under pressure is not created in the moment. It is revealed. Real change requires consistent expectations, real responsibility, and repeated action, especially when it would be easier to avoid it. That kind of formation is not as appealing as a new idea, but it is the only thing that holds up when the pressure is real.
